                        Pomegranate Stain   ©Beth Surdut  2006         Image  21" x 53.5"  silk original  SOLD

We are all colored by our experiences.  BETHSURDUT.PomegranateStain.jpg (959092 bytes)  In my morphed mythology, Persephone flees, pomegranate seeds in hand.

Her skirt bears the fruit's color and seed pattern on the hem. This Persephone flees the hell of an enigmatic paradise, a real dragon snapping at her Achilles heel.

The pomegranate, symbol of fruitful unions in Hindu and Jewish cultures, makes an appearance on this joyful chuppah.
